The ancient town of Faversham, known as the "Market Town of Kings", with its wonderful overhanging buildings, spectacular Market place and ancient Guildhall, all take on a completely different look at Christmas time. From the last Saturday in November until 6th January each festive season the streets are zigzagged with several miles of cables carrying thousand’s of brightly coloured bulbs, shop fronts are adorned with seasonal features and illuminated Christmas trees. The centrepiece each year is the market place with a huge tree dominating the square and strings of lights reaching from it in every direction. Above the Post Office is a special seasonal greeting, turn another corner and find a larger than life Christmas candle.
All the hard work of erecting the displays is carried out by volunteers, and often in cold and wet conditions, nevertheless the work goes ahead and a display is provided for all to enjoy!
